Invoicing for UK freelancers

You invoice a few clients a month, you want it to look professional, and you do not want to learn accounting software. Invosi is built for that exact job.

What UK freelancers actually need

Not bookkeeping. Not double-entry accounting. A way to send a clean invoice, get paid on time, and stay on the right side of HMRC. Invosi does the invoicing; pair it with whatever you already use for accounts (or with one of the free UK tools).

What works for UK freelancers out of the box

VAT-aware invoices

Add VAT per line item, choose standard / reduced / zero / exempt, and the totals are correct on the PDF and in the customer view. No spreadsheet formulas.

GBP is the default

Prices in pounds, no need to convert from USD. Invoices render in GBP, Stripe payouts settle in GBP, no FX surprise.

MTD-compatible exports

Export invoice data as CSV. Drops straight into the free HMRC tools or your accountant's spreadsheet. No lock-in.

Payment links

Add a Stripe payment link to every invoice. Clients pay in two taps, you get the money in two days. Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay.

Recurring invoices for retainers

Set up a monthly invoice once, send it automatically on the same day each month. Stop forgetting to invoice your retainer clients.

What is deliberately not in the box

  • No bookkeeping, P&L, balance sheet, or tax filing — use FreeAgent, Xero, or your accountant for that.
  • No timesheet-heavy workflow — Invosi is for invoice-first freelancers, not agencies.
  • No payroll, no expenses, no inventory. We do one thing well.

I send maybe 8 invoices a month. I needed something that looks professional, lets clients pay by card, and does not try to be QuickBooks. Invosi is exactly that.
